In Shelbyville, the fall event calendar runs from October’s Halloween season through the morning after Thanksgiving. Blue River Memorial Park, Public Square, and Intelliplex are the main settings, with gatherings tied to different parts of the season.
Halloween, with a few ways to do it
Halloween Paws in the Park
Shelby Parks’ Halloween Paws in the Park gives costumed pets and their people a separate outing before the larger carnival night. The leashed-pet walk is October 15 at 7 p.m. at Blue River Memorial Park. It is free, and registration is not required. Details are on Shelby Parks’ event page.
Halloween Fun at the Park
Blue River Memorial Park’s October 16 event gathers several Halloween activities in one place: decorated trunks, a petting zoo, food trucks, carnival games, pony rides, and music. It runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person in advance or $10 at the gate, including children. The City recommends bringing a trick-or-treat bag; gate admission is cash only. See Halloween Fun at the Park details.
Downtown Trunk or Treat
For a shorter Halloween stop, Shelbyville’s annual Trunk or Treat brings decorated cars, games, music, and pumpkins to the Public Square. It is scheduled for October 28, 6 to 8 p.m. The City shares Trunk or Treat visitor details and parking information.
A post-Thanksgiving morning outdoors
Black Friday 5K Run/Walk
The Black Friday 5K starts at 9 a.m. November 27 at Intelliplex Conference Center. Runners and walkers use paved trails, and the event benefits Pantry Pals, a Shelby County food bank. Registration is currently listed at $30, with a scheduled price increase after November 22. Check the current amount and sign up through RunSignup.
Before you head out
We’d treat the October 15 pet walk and October 16 park event as two separate plans: they’re on consecutive evenings but have different admission requirements. The 5K registration fee is listed to change after November 22. City and organizer pages linked above are the best source for any last-minute updates.
